Police have recovered the body of a 25-year-old man who drowned at McLaren Falls, near Tauranga, yesterday evening.
They said the Pakistani national, who lived in Auckland, was not a confident swimmer and he entered the water on his own while two friends watched from the bridge.
He then got into difficulties and his friends were not able to help him in time.
His death has been referred to the coroner.
