The Department of Health in America Samoa has closed down a popular restaurant in Pago Pago after bugs were found in its food.

The Department's chief compliance officer, Papali'i Marion Fitisemanu, says the unannounced inspection of Sweeties Restaurant in Fagatogo was conducted following complaints from a member of public that they had found bugs in their food.

Papali'i said they discovered a lot of cockroaches during their inspection.

He has told Sweeties to address the health concerns raised during the inspection.
