There have been a record number of entries for New Zealand's extra virgin olive oil awards this year.
Olives New Zealand Executive Officer Gayle Sheridan said there had been a bumper harvest, with many sensational oils produced.
She said there had been almost 100 entries for the awards from all the main olive growing regions, and competition was going to be fierce.
A panel of six international and New Zealand olive oil tasters will judge the entries at Massey University's specialist food tasting laboratory later this month.
The results will be announced on 4 October.
