Singer-songwriter Lorde and soul and R&B artist Aaradhna were the big winners at the 48th annual Music Awards in Auckland.
Lorde won breakthrough artist of the year, the international achievement award, the people's choice award and single of the year for Royals.
Samoan-Indian artist Aaradhna was named best female solo artist and won album of the year for Treble & Reverb - also judged best urban/hip hop album aand best Pacific music album.
Lawrence Arabia took best male solo artist and Shapeshifter won best group on Thursday.
