Travel agents will receive up to $48 million in government funding to try and claw back money spent by New Zealanders on overseas travel that was cancelled due to Covid-19.
The fund will pay a fee to agents who secure refunds or credits on behalf of customers.
The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment estimates that nearly $700 million is locked up overseas because of the pandemic.
