The police dive squad has been brought in to continue the search for a man missing in the Whanganui River.

The man was reported to be in distress in the river near Whanganui Airport just after 7pm yesterday.
Police, Coastguard, surf lifesavers and a Westpac rescue helicopter were unable to find him.
Police remained in the area overnight.
The dive squad travelled to Whanganui from Wellington to continue the search.
