Fire and Emergency say all residents evacuated from their home due to the Port Hills fire in Christchurch can now return to their homes.
At the height of the blaze, about 110 households had to leave - 80 in Christchurch and 30 in the Selwyn district.
By earlier this afternoon the number had dropped to 33.
Incident Commander Dave Stackhouse says arrangements were made for the remaining evacuated homes in the Summit Road area to have access today.
Stackhouse says people do need to stay ready to leave again at short notice should that be required.
He says people in the affected areas should have a bag packed with all of their essentials and make sure they have plans in place for pets and animals.
