Woman charged over travel agency theft

11:53 am on 25 November 2011

One charge of theft has been laid against a woman accused of stealing money from a Wellington travel agency and further charges are expected.

Romolo Balm, 37, appeared before the registrar at Wellington District Court on Friday.

She was remanded to reappear in court next month.

The theft charge alleges that between 30 November and 22 December last year Ms Balm stole more than $3000 cash from Maher Travel Limited.

The accusations against her came to light this week after her former employers complained they had waited months for police to investigate, while John Key's complaint over the 'teacup tape' was handled immediately.
