Giant NZ rugby ball to be set up in Sydney

10:32 am on 2 August 2010

Tourism New Zealand will spend $1.4 million to install a giant inflatable rugby ball in Sydney for 10 days.

During the day the ball will be used to promote New Zealand as a tourist destination, and at night it will host trade and industry events.

Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism John Key says with the start of the Rugby World Cup only a year away, the ball will showcase New Zealand's culture, landscapes and heritage.

The giant ball will be placed alongside the Overseas Passenger Terminal at Sydney's Circular Quay from 2 - 12 September.
