Deportation orders were issued after it was found the students' India-based education agents had submitted fraudulent documents for them.

Lawyer Alistair McClymont said the students would still be given a deportation stamp - regardless of whether they can leave voluntarily, which includes a five-year re-entry ban.

He said the situation was complicated due to the students' individual circumstances.

Mr McClymont said he would be in talks with Immigration New Zealand over the next three days about the requirements of the students leaving.
