A main road in the Samoan capital is flooded and people are being told to be on the alert as heavy rain and thunderstorms affect the islands.
The acting assistant CEO for the Samoa met service Lameko Talia says a heavy rain warning was issued at 4 o'clock this morning.
He said the main road in the capital, Apia, was flooded blocking traffic from the west.
"We have advised people to be on alert especially when travelling on the roads. There is no evacuation issued, just heavy rain warning for low lying coastal areas."
Lameko Talia said the heavy rain was expected to ease tomorrow afternoon.
