Housing Minister Phil Twyford says he wants to scrap Auckland's rural-urban boundary to allow the city to grow outward. He says given population growth projections, the city will need to grow upwards and outwards, and that means getting rid of current rural-urban boundary regulations. First though, he'll have to run that plan past his old boss, now the city's mayor, Phil Goff. Mr Goff tells us the problem is not a shortage of land but of infrastructure.
