Fiji police again scotch abduction reports

15:33 pm on 29 May 2019

Fiji police have scotched allegations of another child kidnapping and again say the Chinese community is being unfairly victimised over the alleged abductions.

The police say the latest incident involving an 11 year old student will be forwarded to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions for independent legal advice.

The police say all three cases of alleged kidnappings reported to date have turned out false.

They say unwarranted attacks on the Chinese community are of great concern.

"We are advising parents and guardians to talk to their children about the consequences of making up stories which have caused nationwide panic and resulted in the Chinese community being unfairly victimised," a police statement said.
