Chief executive of the accounting software firm Xero says all political parties need to step up and announce meaningful IT policies in their election campaign.
Rod Drury said policies such as the Labour Party's promise to review the rollout of ultra fast broadband weren't going to make much difference.
He told TVNZ that no political parties had announced meaningful IT policies.
Mr Drury said a conversation about how to make the most out of the biggest technology shift in a generation needed to happen now.
He said an independent technology advisor to the Government needed to appointed.
