The Fiji Government says repairs to all schools affected by last February's Tropical Cyclone Winston are expected to be completed by October next year.
FBC News said the timeline was given by an economics ministry official in a briefing to the Prime Minister Frank Bainimarama who was visiting victims of the past week's floods.
The Fiji Sun reports a woman as saying she knew her prayers were answered when she saw Mr Bainimarama.
Much of Fiji has suffered extensive flood damage to crops and infrastructure.
The water is receding and some of the evacuation centres have been closed.
