Quake jolts lower North Island

The magnitude 4.3 earthquake struck at 4.09am and was centred 25 kilometres north-west of Levin.

It was 5 kilometres deep and described by GeoNet as strong.

There were nine other earthquakes in the Lower and central North Island in the three following hours but but GeoNet said they were either unnoticeable or weak.
