Genetic mutations feared over French nuclear tests

Fears have been raised in French Polynesia that the French nuclear weapons test may have triggered genetic and hereditary changes among the people exposed to the blasts.

Until less than a decade ago, France claimed that its 193 tests at Moruroa and Fangataufa were clean and had no impact on human health.

An article published in France at the weekend has revived the debate about the test legacy.
