BNZ has announced it is closing its branch at the University of Otago, and up to five staff could be made redundant.
It is the latest in a series of branch closures by big banks throughout the country.
Seven BNZ branches have closed in recent months.
The bank's retail regional manager, Robyn McKinnel, said a decline in foot traffic at the university branch had led to the closure.
She said BNZ would provide in-store services at its two other Dunedin branches, and an ATM would remain at the university.
BNZ was working with the affected staff on redeployment and redundancy options.
The branch would close on 13 December.
