A long run of dry weather in Taranaki has forced water restrictions in Straftord.
Stratford District Council spokesperson Victoria Araba said river levels hf dropped to a point where limitiing water use is required to maintain minimum river flows.
From today, a ban on sprinkler and irrigations systems and unattended hoses will apply to those using the Stratford, Toko and Midhirst water supply.
Handheld hoses may be used on odd or even numbered days depending on your house number.
Meanwhile, water restrictions have been lifted in the Otago settlement of Luggate.
Restrictions were imposed last week as reservoir levels dropped rapidly.
The Queenstown Lakes District Council said demand had now dropped and a new bore was being commissioned.
The council said conserving water remained important with hot and dry weather forecast to continue.
