Sport: Desperation the key for Hunters and Seagulls

10:45 am on 16 August 2014

Wynnum Seagulls rugby league coach Jon Buchanan says tomorrow's Queensland Cup clash against the Papua New Guinea Hunters will come down to which team is more desperate to win.

The home side have won seven of their last eight matches, with their only defeat in that time coming against runaway leaders the Northern Pride.

The Hunters have also hit their straps, winning four straight at home to close the gap on the playoff positions to just one point.

And Jon Buchanan says neither team will be short of motivation.

"It's a four point game for us basically because we've got the bye the following week so if we can get a result this weekend then it definitely assures us a top three finish, so we've got a fair bit to play for obviously. The Hunters are keen for a win: they're playing for their season basically to stay in touch with the top five they need a result so it's basically a grand final for them".

The match is being billed as the game of the round and will be televised live on Channel 9 in Australia as well as through Imparja, EMTV, Hitron and Chanel 8 in PNG.
