RNZ has announced that Karyn Hay will replace Bryan Crump on RNZ National's weeknight show.
RNZ's Head of Radio David Allan said Crump's decision to move to RNZ Concert provided an opportunity to refresh the evening offering on RNZ National and that he was looking forward to what Hay would bring to her new extended timeslot.
"Karyn is a broadcasting icon and a popular and versatile radio host. We're excited to be able to give her the whole evening and I know listeners will enjoy hearing more of her on-air - including that wonderful trademark laugh."
An acclaimed writer, broadcaster and speaker, Hay was awarded the Independent Spirit Award at the Taite Prize in May, recognising her contribution to Aotearoa's music industry throughout her broadcasting career.
Hay also holds an ONZM for services to broadcasting and New Zealand music.
She has hosted Lately with Karyn Hay from 10-11pm weeknights since 2018, and her first show in the expanded timeslot will be on 3 October.
"It's a great privilege to be doing Nights on RNZ National. I very much hope you'll come and lounge around with me in the evenings," she said.
Crump's final day on RNZ National is 30 September. He will be on air on RNZ Concert from mid-October.
