Parliament has held a snap debate on the resignation of National MP Maurice Williamson as a minister.
Mr Williamson resigned his ministerial portfolios last week following revelations he phoned the police about their investigation into a National Party donor.
Opposition MPs say it reflects a wider attitude in the National Party that money can buy favours.
They also used the debate as a springboard to attack Justice Minister ,Judith Collin, for her actions with milk exporter Oravida.
Several Government ministers rose to their feet to defend Mr Williamson's record as a minister and recall cases where Labour ministers fell from grace.
