Spark customers are being targeted by fraudsters trying to get their bank details.
The company says some of its customers have been getting phone calls from people pretending to be Spark employees who tell them their service is about to be cut off because of security issues.
They then ask the customers to visit a website and to pass on banking information.
Peter Leslie, from Wellington, said the fraudsters accessed his computer remotely.
He said he not only got a call today from someone who said he was about to lose his internet connection, but a page appeared on his computer screen without his entering a web address.
"They kept pushing me for some information. I had the computer on and new screens that I'd never seen before came up, including something called TP Viewer. Then they asked me what my ID number and my password was and I said I don't know."
Mr Leslie said the person eventually hung up.
Spark says anyone who receives such a call should hang up, and anyone who has already handed over information should contact their bank immediately.
