The Silver Ferns have lost the second Constellation Cup netball test in Brisbane going down 55-46 to Australia.
The result gives defending champs Australia a 2-nil lead in the four test series, after the world champions won the opening test 50-40.
Australia led 16-11 at the end of the first quarter and maintained the five goal margin at halftime, going to the break 28-23 up.
The hosts extended their lead to nine goals in the third, going into the final quarter up 41-32.
Australia maintained the margin in the final quarter eventually running out winners 55-46.
Silver Ferns shooter Grace Nweke played two quarters on her return to the court, having not played since the early stages of the World Cup in South Africa earlier this year, where she suffered a serious knee injury.
The series now moves to New Zealand with game three in Invercargill on Thursday night.
