Jay Michael Harding-Reriti, 33, has appeared in Christchurch District Court via video link.

He faces three charges of possessing explosives, one of possessing ammunition and two of possessing offensive weapons in public.

Mr Harding-Reriti was arrested after police discovered explosives in an empty house in the suburb of Phillipstown last week.

He is expected to enter pleas on all six charges when he appears in the same court later this month.
