The iwi Ngati Rangiteaorere is demanding changes to the Ngaa Punawai o Te Tokotoru Claims Settlement Bill due to property "landlocked" by Pakeha-owned farms.

The tribe, which encompasses the Rotorua and Bay of Plenty districts, has told a Parliamentary Select Committee, that while it is good that about 350 hectares of hilly, steep terrain is included in the settlement, it is unable to enjoy it.

A Ngati Rangiteaorere representative, lawyer Donna Hall, showed the committee a map illustrating what she said was land the tribe owned, but could not enter.
