Britain has had its warmest, driest and sunniest summer since 2006.
Met Office figures show the mean temperature from 1 June - 28 August was 15.2C, which the BBC reports is 0.8C above average.
There were 588 hours of sunshine, making it the seventh sunniest summer since 1929 when records began.
The Met Office said this summer stands out because the last six summers were so wet.
The BBC reports there was a heatwave lasting 19 days in July, when temperatures regularly passed 30C.
