Radio New Zealand News understands the industrial row over the production of The Hobbit is close to resolution.
A source has indicated the stalemate could be broken within hours, and a statement may be released in Hollywood on Monday.
However, a spokesperson for Sir Peter Jackson's Wingnut production company says he's not aware of a media release.
Hollywood studios MGM, Warner Brothers and its subsidiary New Line Cinema are backing the pre-production stages of the film.
The dispute has been running for more than a week. The New Zealand Actors' Equity union has been demanding a collective bargaining agreement before performers accept work on the film.
