Queen's limousine auctioned off

12:44 pm on 1 September 2013

An auction house in England has sold the Queen's Daimler V8 limousine for about £40,500, advertising it as having had one careful lady owner.

The Queen took delivery of the car in 2001. For the next three years it ferried her abour her Windsor Castle estate and to and from engagements at Buckingham Palace.

The electric windows were adapted to avoid the wind blowing in her face too much.

Following her observation that she had nowhere to put her handbag when accompanied by her lady in waiting, an armrest with a specially designed bag holder was installed, the BBC reports.

The car was sold by auction house Brooklands Museum in Surrey.
