A District Court judge in Samoa will run as a candidate for the opposition Tautua Samoa Party in next year's election.

The confirmation of Judge Tauiliili Harry Schuster as a candidate was made by Tautua MP, Palusalue Fa'apo II.

However, he told Sunday Samoan he could not confirm which constituency Tauiliili will stand for - and the judge could not be reached for comment.

Only matai may stand for Parliament and Tauiliili is a matai in three constituencies and so may choose which one of them to stand for.

Sources say the judge will run in the Vaimauga West constituency, where he holds the matai title of Lefau.
