The man killed in an assault by two people in the Napier suburb of Pandora on Monday has been named.
He was 63-year-old Peter Lui.
Police are looking for witnesses to the attack as part of a homicide investigation into Lui's death.
Sights of a "vehicle of interest" are also being sought.
Police want to hear from anyone who saw a maroon Holden Commodore in the days prior to the incident on Monday.
In a statement, police said they "understand that the events of Monday have rightfully caused concern and we want to reassure the community that there will be a strong and visible police presence across the city".
