A man has been charged with murder over the death of Coubin Arerua Tamatoa-Makaea at a West Auckland property last week.
Police were called to a house on Trig Road in Whenuapai around 2am last Wednesday and found a man badly injured.
They tried to help but he died at the scene.
Detective Inspector Aaron Proctor said a 33-year-old Whangārei man has been arrested and charged with the murder of Tamatoa-Makaea.
He was due to appear in the Waitākere District Court today.
"I would like to acknowledge the work of the enquiry team over the past week," Proctor said.
"Police hope that this arrest brings some reassurance to the Whenuapai and wider West Auckland communities."
