The Remutaka Hill Road has been closed as emergency services deal with a car fire on the highway.

A Fire and Emergency shift manager said the fire was on the Featherston side of the summit, and both lanes of State Highway 2 were closed.
One fire crew had just arrived at the scene, but he said they had already requested a second water tanker.
No one is trapped in the car.
