The latest dengue outbreak in Wallis and Futuna has claimed its first life.
The public broadcaster said an eight-year-old girl died after her condition deteriorated and she had been flown to New Caledonia's medical centre.
A dengue epidemic was declared in Wallis and Futuna a year ago.
Since then 222 infections have been reported and 23 people needed hospital care.
The public continues to be advised to destroy the breeding areas of mosquitoes carrying the disease.
