New Zealand First leader Winston Peters is still keen to be the first man into the Pike River mine.
The deputy prime minister reaffirmed his commitment, while fronting media at this week's post-cabinet press conference on behalf of the Prime Minister.
He made the comment back in 2016, around the time he said the National Party wanted to put up a wall to stop re-entry ever happening.
Mr Peters told journalists not to worry about him as he has an experience of mining and being underground so it's not new for him in terms of danger.
He joked they must care about him, before confirming he wants to keep his promise.
