A homicide investigation has been launched after a person died following a police call-out in Taupō last night.

Police responded to a serious assault on Arthur Crescent shortly after 11pm, where the person subsequently died.
A 34-year-old man has been arrested and charged with murder, and will appear in the Rotorua District Court tomorrow.
Police are speaking to witnesses and conducting a scene examination.
