Tamariki Māori and those living in areas of high deprivation with asthma are being failed by the health system, according to new research. A study published in the New Zealand Medical Journal today finds which finds Māori children with asthma are hospitalised at twice the rate of non-Māori children. Admission rates for children in the most deprived areas are nearly 3 times higher than children in wealthy areas.
