Inquiry focusing on Lower Hutt property

17:29 pm on 3 December 2014

Police investigating the death of Matthew Stevens say they are talking to a number of people of interest.

Mr Stevens' body was discovered among shrubs on Paekakariki Hill Road last Friday, six hours after his abandoned car was found by police. He had been beaten and stabbed.

Police inquiries are focused on an Oxford Terrace property in Epuni, Lower Hutt. They said results of forensic tests on the property and cars there were due by the end of this week or early next week.

Polcie are appealing for members of the public who saw a white Toyota Corolla in the Paekakariki Hill Road area last Thursday night to contact them.
