Efforts to tackle modern slavery in supply chains take another step forward today - as consultation opens up to the public.

The organisation Walk Free estimates about 40 million people are subject to modern slavery - that term covers exploitative practices such as forced and child labour, human trafficking, and sexual exploitation.

The 2018 Global Slavery Index identified the riskiest products were consumer electronics, such as laptops, computers and cellphones; garments; fish; cocoa and sugarcane.

The government's advisory group is chaired by Rob Fyfe who spoke to Māni Dunlop.
