Lee Valley resident Nicola Reif went to bed last night not knowing whether the works of art she has spent the past year creating for a Christchurch exhibition would be in ashes or not on Friday morning.
Reif lives in one of the eleven evacuated houses in the Tasman district where firefighters have been working to contain blazes across nine hectares of pine forest, about 20 kilometres from Nelson.
