After failing in its first bid to start an outdoors-focussed charter school in Hamilton, a Maori health provider is planning to have another go.
The managing director of the whare hauora, Tureiti Moxon, said its application was denied because it had not secured land for a new kura and it did not provide enough detail about how it would teach tauira or students.
She says it hoped another round of applications would be called for; it would then try again to set up a kura for the Waikato region.
Meanwhile, Ms Moxon said the health provider was opening a new childcare centre on Thursday, Te Kohao Kohungahunga, which would cater for about 15 pre-schoolers.
