Emergency services are trying to airlift a man off a cliff near the river mouth in Whakatāne.
They were called to the scene on Muriwai Drive just after 4pm after they received a report from a man stuck halfway up a cliff.
Police, emergency services and Land Search and Rescue are at the scene.
