Members of the Post Primary Teachers Association begin voting today to decide if they should include the Government's new top jobs for teachers and principals in their collective agreement.
The roles are part of a $359 million plan to pay good principals and teachers more to improve teaching across groups of schools.

The PPTA said the vote will determine if the new jobs should be in the collective, and is not a referendum on whether teachers like the Government's plan.
However, the vote will be a critical measure of support for the scheme, which has already been rejected by members of the primary school staff union, the NZEI.
PPTA president Angela Roberts said the leadership supports the plan and had succeeded in negotiating significant changes to the government's original proposal.
"While we fundamentally agree with the goals of the original cabinet paper, we completely rejected the original model and proposal."
The vote will take place over the next ten days.
