A court in Fiji has heard evidence from two policemen who arrested the late Vilikesa Soko in August 2014 and handed him over to the men on trial for his rape.
Mr Soko later died of his injuries, but the eight police officers and one military officer are charged with rape, and two of them are also charged with defeating the course of justice for allegedly asking other officers to make false statements.
Semi Ravuiwasa and Maciu Temo arrested Mr Soko and another man in Sigatoka, who were suspected of an armed robbery in Nadi.
Repeka Nasiko from the Fiji Times was in the court yesterday, and heard that the officers handed the men over to the Criminal Investigation Department at Lautoka.
The accused men are members of the CID.
Ms Nasiko says Vilikesa Soko's father has been attending the trial.
The trial began on Monday and is expected to last a month.
