New Zealand are in contention at the halfway stage of the 26th Nomura Cup in Thailand thanks to a fine performance from Manawau golfer Joshua Munn which helped the team climb into a share of fifth place alongside Korea.

The Kiwis combined for a seven under par round two total of 209 to get to an 11-under par total of 421 in the format where the best three out of four scores count towards the team total.

They will begin round three seven shots back from the leaders Japan who hold a one stroke lead from China and hosts Thailand.

The talking point of day two in the Kiwi camp was the performance of Munn who fired a superb six-under par 66 in round two, jumping into a share of the lead on the individual leaderboard.

The Men's Asia-Pacific Teams Championship, or more commonly known as the Nomura Cup, is a biennial tournament.
