The head of Te Papa says museums around New Zealand are now working more closely together after years of not co-operating.

Board chairman John Judge has told Parliament's Government Administration Select Committee a lot of work has gone into improving relationships between Te Papa and other museums.

He said the improved co-operation will eliminate duplication and ensure museums use their combined resources much more effectively when it comes to exhibitions.
