The body of a man who has been missing at Lake Wakatipu since yesterday has been found.
Yesterday afternoon, a person was reported to be in trouble in the water near the Glenorchy Waterfront Reserve.
A helicopter, jet boats, LandSAR and other swimmers joined the search yesterday and the National Dive Squad was deployed today.
Police said they found the man's body about 3.50pm.
He was a visitor from Australia and had been helping a child in the water when he got into trouble himself, police said.
The man's death will be referred to the Coroner.
It is understood to be the same place, north of Glenorchy Wharf, where 48-year-old Linkin Kisling of Wanaka died last Friday while trying to save his son.
His 10-year-old son survived.
