Pilot killed in West Coast chopper crash named

The helicopter pilot who died in a crash on the South Island's West Coast on Monday has been named.

Noel Edward Wilson, 51, was the only occupant of the Robinson R22 helicopter when it went down in a remote hilly area, just to the north-east of his home town of Reefton.

Police have prepared a report for the coroner, and the Transport Accident Investigation Commission was continuing to investigate the cause of the crash.
