Fiji has kept it's hopes alive of a top two finish in the Pacific Qualifier Group for the 2008 Rugby League World Cup, with a 40-4 victory over the Cook Islands at Penrith's Australia Stadium at the weekend.

In front of a small and vocal crowd, Fiji were too powerful and skillful for the Cook Islands.

Fiji have now left their fate in the hands of Samoa and Tonga, who meet on October 22nd in Leeds, England.

The winner of the group will be decided from this match.

Fiji are currently sitting 2nd on the table, but both Samoa and Tonga have a better for and against then that of Fiji.

If Tonga should beat Samoa by 6 or less then Fiji will finish 3rd in the pool.

However, If Samoa should win then they will take out the pool and Fiji will claim second place with Tonga relegated to 3rd and further qualifying matches.
