Consumer confidence remains upbeat with the latest survey showing people are still happy to spend money.
The ANZ-Roy Morgan Consumer Confidence Index rose from 118 in March to 120 this month.
A reading over 100 indicates optimism.
The index showed eight percent of people felt better off than a year ago.
Optimism about the economy in the short term had risen to a five-month high.
House price expectations rose close to a 12-month high, led by Auckland.
